The following are guidelines for the selection committees to use in determining who to approach to be an award recipient. The guidelines are meant to be instructive, not determinative.
Innovation Award
Engaged in significant philanthropic or community activities.
Track record of multifaceted professional and/or community participation.
Recognized by peers as leader in his or her chosen field.
Exemplifies good character and excellence.
Scientific Achievement Award
Responsible for contributing to a significant, unrecognized scientific breakthrough.
Work is performed in a multidisciplinary field (e.g. combing medicine and engineering or biology and engineering, etc.)
Published works and active in sharing work with other members of scientific community to advance field or knowledge base.
Mentor and/or role model for others aspiring in scientific field.

The selection committee for the Scientific Achievement Award consists of
President of AMF
Executive Vice President of R & D
General Counsel
Senior Biomedical/Surgical Physician
A request for nominations is made to the scientists and engineers at the Alfred Mann Foundation. Qualified nominees must not be an employee of the Alfred Mann Foundation.
The list of nominees is complied and then reduced to three finalists by the selection committee. The selection committee then reviews the qualifications of each finalist a second time and ranks the finalists in order. The selection committee then confirms that the nominee ranked highest is willing to be the recipient at AMF’s annual gala event.
Previous Alfred Mann Award Winners
The Alfred Mann Foundation Award for Innovation and Vision was
established to recognize those individuals who engage in significant
philanthropic or community activities that have a direct impact on the
advancement of the human condition. The Alfred Mann Foundation Award
for Scientific Achievement was established to recognize scientists who have
made significant contributions to the development of medical products
benefiting the public. Established in 2004,.the Awards are
presented each year to one honoree at the Alfred Mann Foundation’s
(Foundation) annual fundraising gala, “An Evening of Innovation and
Inspiration.”
